Fuel gas has many sources, some of which contain aerosols such as heavier hydrocarbons, entrained water or solids, which contribute to a host of potential issues.
The presence of liquid aerosols can be due to condensation, lube oil from upstream compression, chemical addition such as corrosion inhibitors, and a wide range of other sources. The impact can vary, but includes flame impingement at burner tips, freeze-ups of fuel to field and plant compressors, and fouling of control devices.
These solids and liquid aerosols are so fine that they penetrate conventional separation devices. Pentair Porous Media’s proven UltiSep technology separates these fine contaminants, eliminating downstream issues.
